I too am a fruit thief, sort of. In my neighborhood, those of us with fruit trees give each other permission to snag fruit. People take from my orange trees, and I get to enjoy the plums, apricots, lemons, persimmons and avocados from my neighbor's trees.
I love it when I see your name appear in my inbox. Thank you for your poetic and lyrical musing on your life, your plants, your birds and the struggle to find your feet again. I left teaching after 17 years and I am also humbled by the feeling of being a 'novice' and of finding my feet again. I love your paper collages. Keep your hands in the mud and your words flowing. Magic!
I also read the Sallie Tisdale book and liked it a lot but it was so long ago--I barely remember. However, I DO remember the title--which is what attracted me to the book--since (duh) we are all future corpses. thank you for your writing and sharing your life, Belle. What a supreme pleasure to have a glimpse into what someone else is thinking deeply about.
Belle as always your writing is amazing. You have a way of transporting your readers right into your life and surroundings. I too am a mover of plants... I always make the mistake of planting things too close together only to dig them up and move them later.
I can so relate to the wistfulness of wanting to return to Italy. I hope that you guys can at some point. You never know!
You are amazing in your ability to let others see into the windows of your mind as it sorts the world around us. It’s a kind of genius, really. Thank you for sharing! ❤️
Once again, thank you. I too, rescue fallen fruit. While living in L.A., I learned about the well organized efforts to map fruit suspended over sidewalks by the group Fallen Fruit.
I look forward to every single one of these. Your voice… I get it, I love it.
Thanks, Mich.
